NEWS: Sam Evian shares new video for ‘I Need a Man’

New York-based singer Sam Evian is releasing his debut album Premium on 30th September via Saddle Creek.  As part of the lead-up to the release, he’s shared a new video for ‘I Need a Man,’ which he co-directed with his bass player Brian Betancourt (of Here We Go Magic and Hospitality).  While technically a lyric video, it’s impossible not to watch as they travel around different landmarks and areas of New York in various masks.

Evian explained the concept behind the video: “Brian shot this lyric video with his iPhone.  The original concept was to wear layers of masks and reveal them one after the other like a matryoshka doll, but somehow that turned into a guided panda tour of NYC.  It was surprising to learn that people really adore a guy in a panda mask.  We started on the Staten Island ferry and worked our way through the dark underbelly of Wall Street.”

He continued: “We noticed a hoard of tourists taking pictures with the Wall Street bull.  Many of them were crowded at the rear of the bull, kneeling to take selfies with its genitals. I went in for a gross selfie, and they all fell silent and nervous.  I slapped the bull’s ass and Brian and I both began to feel grossed out so we hopped in a cab and escaped.  Somehow, we ended up at the Natural History museum, my favourite place in NYC.”  Watch below.
