NEWS: Final line-up announced for Venues Day 2016

On 18th October, the Music Venue Trust are hosting Venues Day 2016, the only national event aimed specifically at people who run small to medium scale independent music venues.  This year 500 delegates will be present, with 180 venues represented, 12 exhibitors and 60 speakers lined up across 10 panels.  It had already been announced that John Robb would be leading three panel discussions to ask fundamental questions about the state of venues and what could be done to help, with panellists including Jeff Horton (100 Club), Tim Hornsby (Fibbers York), The Anchoress and Mark Moriss.

In addition, Meet the Gurus returns with an opportunity to have one-to-one advice from nine experts on issues impacting on grassroots music venues, covering everything from noise to local authority licensing and establishing new developments.  Elsewhere, the Music Venue Trust has worked with a variety of partners to create three interactive areas at the event. The Jack Daniel’s Social Media Hub will be helping delegates to tune up their social media skills, while Ticketweb will be introducing punters to the next generation of ticketing.  Meanwhile, White Light will be providing delegates with an opportunity to discuss sound and lighting with experts.

Beverly Whitrick of MVT said: “We’ve been working hard in the lead up to Venues Day to ensure that this event provides a real opportunity to grassroots music venues to come down, learn or share something, and to go back afterwards and make a genuine change or improvement to their business which helps to protect, secure and improve it in the future.  Everyone involved in Music Venue Trust comes from a practical background of involvement with actually delivering culture, and we want to make sure that what we offer on Venues Day reflects that; it’s not a meaningless talking shop, it’s an opportunity to do something which actually makes things better for your venue, artists and audiences.”

Tickets for the event are on sale now.
