Today we bring you the premiere of Baby Queens‘ video for their new single ‘Hear Me’, released 24th February.
‘Hear Me’ is a smooth, cool, and understated slice of pop music. The video isn’t exactly slick: chipped nail varnish, the band playing/rehearsing in a cramped space that resembles an indoor vintage market or charity shop (the microphone isn’t believable, either), then snapping to a mostly empty street on a chilly, grey day, armed with only a megaphone and a boombox. Despite its obvious homemade quality, the song itself, however, is pretty slick.
As Baby Queens’ Vanity explains: “It’s a song about wanting to be heard… You could be working nine-to-five, but secretly be an amazing dancer; someone who’s a glass collector in a bar is really a brilliant chef, but no one knows because that individual has never voiced it. Deep down, they know what talents they possess but the rest of the world doesn’t know. It’s just wanting to be heard and understood.”
