NEWS: FOCUS Wales announces first wave of acts for 2018

FOCUS Wales have announced the first wave of performers for the 2018 festival.

Some of the first 50 acts announced for 2018 include Mercury Award nominated folk singer KATE RUSBY. JANE WEAVER, the much celebrated psych-pop star with six solo albums under her belt. While BBC Radio 2 Folk Award winners 9BACH are set to open the festival with a concert at the new Tŷ Pawb venue in Wrexham, and DAMO SUZUKI, legendary lead singer of the German krautrock group CAN, is set to return to Wales for a rare performance.

Other acts announced include: GALLOPS, JOHN LAWRENCE (ex. GORKY’S ZYGOTIC MYNCI), LIZZY FARRALL, CaStLeS, MAMMOTH WEED WIZARD BASTARD, and hotly tipped Canadian band PARTNER. To see the full list of 50 acts announced, visit www.focuswales.com

Also announced is Tudur Owen’s Comedy Marathon, a brand new comedy showcase to be held at the HWB Cymraeg venue in the town centre on Friday 11th May, in association with From the Margins!

“FOCUS Wales has become Wales’ biggest music industry event, with three days of panels, keynote talks, and industry advice, the festival will see over 200 music industry professional delegates descend upon Wrexham from around the world.

 

First speakers to be announced include: BEV BURTON (CAMBRIDGE FOLK FESTIVAL), CAL MCRAE (VICE), KAPTIN BARRET (BOOMTOWN FAIR), DIJANA LAKUS (GLASTONBURY FESTIVAL), JOE FRANKLAND (PRSF) and GEOFF TRIO (AUSTRALIAN MUSIC WEEK).

 

FOCUS Wales 2018 takes place over 10th, 11th, 12th May across multiple venues in Wrexham, North Wales.
