NEWS: Everything Everything announce new A.I inspired album ‘Raw Data Feel’, new single and details of ltd book

Everything Everything have announced details of their forthcoming new album Raw Data Feel, scheduled for release May 20th 2022.

To precede the release of the album, the Manchester art-rock band have also released the lead single ‘Bad Friday’ –  a confident and infectious return – with layers of melodic synths intertwining with a tight and rousing rhythm section to spectacular effect. Watch the video below.

Explaining the meaning behind ‘Bad Friday’ and the video’s visuals, frontman Jonathan Higgs said: “This song is about being a victim of violence, explaining it away through the gaze of a ‘crazy night out’. We wanted the video to have a monochrome Ink Spots classicism to it, disrupted by elements of A.I.-generated imagery.”

On Raw Data Feel, the band have re-invented themselves and have set about the task of revolutionising pop music with one eye to the future. Instead of using the usual muses for lyrical inspiration, Higgs has let technology get involved; creating an A.I program and feeding it selected information – the entire terms and conditions of Linked In, the anchient epic poem Beowulf, 400’000 4chan forum posts and the teachings of Confucius – into A.I automation processes and using the resulting responses as the basis of the songs’ lyrics. It’s a new modern take on the cut up techniques, popularised by David Bowie.
