NEWS: Panic Shack share ‘Baby Shack’ E.P with final single ‘Baby’

Cardiff’s Panic Shack have today released highly anticipated new E.P Baby Shack on Brace Yourself Records. It rounds off a hectic Spring for the band, having only recently released previous single ‘The Ick’ and performing at the 6 Music Festival in their home city; the band also found the time to take the Ghost tour of Cardiff Castle for Steve Lamacq’s 6 Music show.

The E.P comes accompanied by final single ‘Baby’, a fiery rebuke at society’s often crippling expections of women and the expectations for them to harbour maternal instincts. The song is a punk-pop explosion in the grand tradition of Bikini Kill, with an almost bored-sounding refrain of “I don’t want to hold your baby.” Take a listen below.

The band were happy to elaborate more on the song’s lyrical themes and any unintended consequences:
“‘Baby’ is a track that divides us as a band. Some of us will happily cradle a newborn baby whereas some of us can’t think of anything worse. Can you guess who?

“The lyrics were scribbled frantically on a piece of scrap paper whilst at work hiding from our boss, then straight after the shift we chucked down some guitars and ‘Baby’ was born. We did question whether the lyrics were a bit too hard hitting but we wanted to make sure NO ONE passes us their babies in the future. Can’t wait for the strongly worded article on Mumsnet. We don’t really need to describe what the song is about do we?”

Currently on tour support for Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard, Panic Shack have confirmed a number of festival appearances later in the summer.
