Video Of The Week #226: DALHIA – MIAMI

Today, we are debuting the moody new video from pop duo DALHIA for their track ‘MIAMI‘, lifted from their forthcoming EP due 13th May through French label BANSHIES.

Following on from the recent single, ‘VIVA 4 EVER‘, on the evocative ‘MIAMI‘ French duo DALHIA deal in themes of disenchantment, sexuality, relationships and hope, darkly menacing electro tapestry of processed drum strikes, sinewy synth notes and Rachel Geffroy’s conflicted narrative underscored by a dark shadow of longing and heartbreak. It sits somewhere between the Knife and mid period Depeche Mode.

They say: “MIAMI deals with the loss of a romantic relationship. Depression and loneliness in the face of loss are brought to light and contrast radically with the daydreams metaphorized by the Florida landscapes evoked: Key Biscayne. This chiaroscuro invites us to think of a paradox in the emotions felt in the face of mourning”.

Watch the black and white video below; its visuals chart the dark recesses of the landscape as they take a car trip to the coast.

DALHIA is a project initiated in 2019 by singer and composer Rachel Geffroy and Simon Vouland drummer, machinist within the project explore the dark and cavernous nuances of electronic and psychedelic music. The influences are varied, from Post-Punk to Hip-Hop. The songs are macabre dances where tortured pop and hypnotic rhythms mix. DALHIA founds a melancholic, singular and mystical universe.
