PREVIEW: KITE Festival

When: 10-12 June 2022
Where: Kirtlington Park, Oxford, UK, OX5 3JN

Described as “a festival of ideas and music for curious, inquisitive, and cultural minds, bringing together a pioneering line-up of musicians, comedians, artists, writers, activists, and thinkers”, KITE is a brand new event to feature on the UK’s summer festival calendar and its very first edition will be held over the second weekend in June in the stunning surroundings of Kirtlington Park with its spectacular views across a Capability Brown landscape and the Oxfordshire countryside.

An exciting and refreshingly predominantly female music line-up includes the stellar talents of Grace Jones, TLC, Self Esteem, Saint Etienne, Mavis Staples, and This Is The Kit, ably complemented by Tom Misch, Seun Kuti & Egypt 80, Nubyan Twist and many, many more great acts besides.

An equally innovative ideas programme will see a series of world-renowned and hugely diverse public figures, cultural icons, artists, and creative thinkers including Ai Weiwei, Bimini, David Miliband, Richard Dawkins, Rory Stewart, William Dalrymple and David Olusoga, Tina Brown, Delia Smith, Elizabeth Day, George Monbiot, Jarvis Cocker, and Sathnam Sanghera exploring a range of subjects and concepts from the environment, society, technology, sport and political systems to identity, wealth, the arts, history, globalisation, and sexuality, all of which impact upon us today.

Across KITE’s seven stages on this exquisite greenfield site there is also a brilliant Comedy schedule featuring Reginald D. Hunter, David O’Doherty, Jen Brister, Sara Barron and so much more besides.

In addition there will be the opportunity to attend workshops, smaller group discussions, panels and debates, take kite lessons, learn how to write a song/to be poet/to tell a joke/to draw, and engage in a wide range of activities that will be accessible to people of all ages.
