Everything But the Girl unveil second single from forthcoming album

Everything But the Girl have released the second single from their forthcoming new album Fuse, their first in 24 years. ‘Caution To The Wind‘ is the follow-up to the album’s first single ‘Nothing Left To Lose.’

Speaking about ‘Caution To The Wind,’ singer Tracey Thorn said: ‘Lyrically, Caution To The Wind: is a simple song about arrival and seizing the moment, so with the music we tried to capture the feeling of a perpetual point in time.’

Ben Watt added: ‘I let the words quickly collapse and loop inside the production. The drums emerge and repeat, and everything then starts to unfold in cycles of anticipation and release. I guess it’s just classic nightclub tension and euphoria.’

It has been revealed that Fuse was recorded by the pair in secret at home and in a small riverside studio outside Bath with friend and engineer Bruno Ellingham. For the first two months, the artist name on the album files was simply TREN (Tracey and Ben), and early takes focused on ambient sound montages and improvised spectral piano loops recorded by Ben on his iPhone at home during his enforced pandemic isolation – ideas which later blossomed into atmospheric tracks such as ‘When You Mess Up‘ and ‘Interior Space.’

The lyric video for ‘Caution To The Wind‘ can be seen below. Fuse will be released on April 21 on Buzzin’ Fly Records through the Virgin Media Group.
