NEWS: Miss Tiny share ‘The Beggar’ single and announce upcoming EP- DEN7

Miss Tiny have today announced details of their debut EP, DEN7, out on 21st July via Speedy Wunderground. To celebrate the hotly anticipated release they have shared their brand new single ‘The Beggar’ and accompanying visualiser. ‘The Beggar’ premiered this morning with Lauren Laverne as her New Music Fix track on BBC Radio 6 Music. Miss Tiny’s universe is a romance of heritage, rebellion, and decade long friendship between award winning producer/guitarist Dan Carey and vocalist / drummer Benjamin Romans-Hopcraft of Childhood, Warmduscher fame.

Speaking about the new single, Miss Tiny say: “‘The Beggar’ seeks to address how relationships can sometimes slip into a struggle for some form of power over a shared situation. What usually happens feels like a futile war for vindication, and usually ends up with both parties being equally as weak as the other.” Watch/ listen here:

The duo’s debut single ‘The Sound’ arrived in February to universal critical acclaim; picking up national radio support from Lauren Laverne who premiered the single on her Breakfast show and Marc Riley at BBC Radio 6 Music, Radio X’s John Kennedy, and Matt Wilkinson at Apple Music 1.

Originally called, What It’s Like To Be A Bat, the pair took the name of an essay written by American philosopher Thomas Nagel – Miss Tiny debuted their new venture at Brixton’s The Windmill back in 2022, later deciding that their namesake, despite all ideological intentions, was perhaps slightly “too evil sounding”, Miss Tiny (a nickname given to Romans-Hopcraft’s grandmother who passed away during recording) was born. Or rather, re-imagined.

An underground buzz has been grow around the band and their jaw droppingly skilled live sets in support of Lounge Society, Joyeria and at an unofficial show during The Great Escape festival weekend.

Having spent the best part of a decade orchestrating haphazard jam-sessions, Carey and Romans-Hopcraft would eventually go on to discover a fundamental principle of their own. One which would come to define Miss Tiny, throughout her various forms and guises. “We called it anti-recording,” offers Carey,. “Only doing it for the pleasure of doing it”. When fully committing to this practice, the music meticulously followed two courses; refine, or degrade. Perfect the moment, or let it go.

Produced and recorded at Carey’s ‘Speedy Wunderground’ studio in Streatham, the single is the first fuller offering from Miss Tiny, and a clear indicator they have truly begun to find their voice together. From pulling all-nighters in a studio in SW16, to conquering the stages of London’s DIY underbelly, Miss Tiny through fate and fortune, circumstance and intuition, are about to enter a league entirely of their own.
