NEWS: Mostly Jazz Funk and Soul announces first wave of acts for 2024

When: 12th – 14th July 2024

Where: Moseley Park and Pool, Moseley, Birmingham, England

Returning for its 15th edition in 2024, the wonderful Mostly Jazz Funk and Soul Festival will once again be held in the idyllic setting of Moseley Park, just two miles outside of Birmingham city centre.  This consistently excellent independent festival has forged a strong reputation for itself over the years of presenting a range of iconic acts alongside up-and-coming artists in what is the most intimate and inclusive outdoor setting.

And following today’s initial announcement of the first acts who will be appearing on the Mostly Jazz Funk and Soul 2024 line-up, next year’s event promises to be absolutely no exception in that regard.

Closing next year’s festival and topping the bill on Sunday night will be no less than the American funk/jazz pioneers Kool & The Gang, the legendary band responsible for such timeless hits as ‘Celebration’, ‘Get Down On It’, and ‘Ladies Night’.

Joining Kool & The Gang on Sunday at Mostly Jazz Funk and Soul will be the Leeds/London collective Nubiyan Twist – who draw upon influences as diverse as jazz, hip-hop, Afrobeat, Latin, soul, reggae, and dance music – and the emerging songwriter Cherise, who was named by Clash magazine as “one of the women raising the bar for Soul and Jazz in the UK”.

DJ Craig Charles, a firm Mostly favourite whose appearances at the festival now date back to 2011, will also be making the trip to Moseley Park come the second weekend of July next year.

Discussing the announcement, John Fell, Mostly Jazz Funk and Soul Festival Manager said: “We can’t wait to see Kool & The Gang close 2024’s festival. With a back catalogue that spans over 50 years and includes everything from smooth pop hits to dirty funk, they’re one of the pioneers of R&B/jazz, and have had a huge influence on music.

“With Nubiyan Twist, Cherise and Craig all joining us too, 2024’s festival is already shaping up to be a great line-up.

“Look out for further artist exciting additions in the New Year, including a few surprises.”

General Admission Weekend tickets are available from Friday 8 December 2023 priced £169 (Adult), £65 (U18), £370 (Family); Day Tickets £65 (Adult), £32 (U18) – plus booking fees.
