NEWS: Mr Bewlay releases feminist anthem ‘Worst of All Women’

In time for International Women’s Day, Cardiff-based Mr Bewlay unleashes ‘Worst of All Women’, the first single from his third EP Against All Reason due later this year.

The song might well be a substantial nod to the rebellion against societal norms carried out by the 17th century Mexican writer, composer, poet, philosopher Juana Ines de la Cruz, and modern times mean that women generally don’t have to become nuns in order to pursue intellectual pursuits, but our struggles are still ever present.

“No matter what you do as a woman someone will consider it “wrong”, so just hold your hands up and say “I’m tired of being right, let me be wrong?!” comments Mr Bewlay of the song.

The single launches with Bewlay quietly repeating ‘I was told I am the worst of all women’ shadowed by a female vocal, rising into a defiant chant. The electronic groove kicks in, making this song soar into an anthem for women and girls who annoy the patriarchy by simply existing.

‘Worst Of All Reason’ is his debut for Dirty Carrot Records.

Written and performed by Mr Bewlay, featuring guest female vocalists Zsofia Pasztori- Kupan, Jessica Delaney, Weronika Reczycka, and the Polish/Welsh- Ptasie Radio Ensemble.

The track is accompanied by the music video recorded with CULTVR & 4pi Productions and the all-female Chinese/Welsh dance troupe D.F. Club

‘Worst of All Women’ was Produced, Mixed and Mastered by Lee House.

Beginning his musical career under the mentorship of the respected Forte Project in Wales, he has been pushing boundaries with his self-organised UK tour playing shows in cities such as London, Glasgow, Liverpool and Bristol.

The upcoming EP is the follow up to Black ReasonLive, Laugh, Love’, ‘Bewlay the Tormentor’ & Electric ReasonHer Name is Juniper’ & ‘Wobbegong’

Worst of All Women lyrics:

I was told I am the worst of all the women

I was told I am the worst of all the women

I was told I am the worst of all the women

I was told I am the worst of all the women

I was told I am the worst of all the women

I was told I am the worst of all the women

I was told I am the worst of all the women

I was told I am the worst of all the women

She is the richest of the currency of prettiness

But through that fortune favour she holds the highest vigilance

And she works all night for the man

And when she shaved her legs she decided to shave her head

I was told i am the worst of all the women

I was told I am the worst of all the women

I was told I am the worst of all the women

I was told I am the worst of all the women

               Hairy pits, and saggy tits

And a total disregard for what men think

As she dances, under blue moon

I was told I am the worst of all the women

I was told I am the worst of all the women

I was told I am the worst of all the women

I was told I am the worst of all the women
