NEWS: The Pale frontman Matthew Devereux shares ‘Uncanny Valley’ single

Prolific, award winning Dublin songsmith Matthew Devereux from The Pale  has just released new single ‘Uncanny Valley’ from his upcoming solo album House Devil due for release on 12th April.

Speaking of the single Matthew said, “The Uncanny Valley ‘is a phrase coined in the 70s that describes the eerie feeling when something like a doll or robot has almost human characteristics. These days it happens more and more as we try to emulate reality with technology. The question remains of how much humanity will we retain in the face of our desire to augment ourselves and simulate a separate reality to exist in. Here the question is asked ‘Can we remain human?’

Juxtaposing haunting electric energy with the acoustic introspection, the multi textured track traverses acoustic and futuristic soundscapes in a Black Mirrored reflection of our times, mesmerising the listener in this gripping work of art.

It is the second single to be taken from Matthew’s new solo album Dublin born Devereux has been actively making music since 1990, beginning with the formation of the much-loved band The Pale who immediately captivated audiences with their energetic live shows which quickly led to a bidding war between numerous record labels battling to sign them up.

Eventually signing with A&M Records and releasing their debut album Here’s One We Made Earlier in 1992, the album featured the classic Irish singles ‘Butterfly’ And ‘Dogs With No Tails’ which peaked at No. 51 in the UK Singles chart in June 1992. The band received Hot Press awards in 1992 for Best Single (‘Butterfly‘) and Best Album Production (Here’s One We Made Earlier)

They have toured the world extensively and have made a dozen albums to date and recently celebrated their 30th anniversary in the music industry and released a career spanning best of collection entitled Paleanthology.. The Pale have always been known for their genre jumping musical stylings and experimenting with idiosyncratic instrumentation and continuing in this spirit of experimentation, Matthew released an album of instrumental ambient electronic music in 2003 entitled ‘Tap, Tap, Tap which received great critical acclaim on its release

The upcoming ten-song album was written, performed, and produced solely by Matthew and is available for pre-order here and will be released on 12th April
