One of our ones to watch this year from Wales, Guilty Party return with a new single ‘Wanna Change’ brim-full of big glistening riffs, stomping percussion and Jen’s vocals that switch from introspective to a big hearted arm in arm anthem, hoping for change. Watch the video below.
Produced by engineer Gethin Pearson (Crystal Fighters, Happydaze, Badly Drawn Boy). They cite the likes of Smashing Pumpkins, Pale Waves, Elastica and Softcult as influence, but I can also detect a bit of the pop punk power of early Paramore.
Formed in Cardiff at the turn of 2023, Guilty Party (Jen, Dan, Ceris and Ty) are a heavy pop band, mixing crunchy guitars and vocal harmonies for a nostalgic twist through a modern mix. Like your mate’s old fake ID, they’re rough round the edges with good intentions – to get the beers in and make a night of it. Slice of life lyrics take you back to losing your friends, finding them and forgetting it happened.
