NEWS: Wunderhorse release first new music since 2022’s debut album

Wunderhorse share new single ‘Midas’ via Communion; the band’s first new music since the release of their 2022 debut album, Cub. It clocks in at just two minutes long, but ‘Midas’ delivers a powerful punch, a statement of intent from the band who quite rightly soared after the release of Cub. Jacob Slater’s turn of phrase and is matched with impassioned instrumentation. Wunderhorse are tricky to put in a box, which is always a good thing. A guitar band perhaps but they are so much more than that description alludes to. Slater shared the following on the new track:
“The song was written in a bathtub in Paris, and forgotten about until it resurfaced in Minnesota. Midas is the guy who makes you feel like a pencil stub, all used up and nothing to show for it, but it’s always just business as far as he’s concerned

Midas’ marks the band’s first new music since debut album Cub, which has taken on a life of its own in the 18 months since release, with sprawling, psychedelic numbers and sharp grunge refrains alike igniting Wunderhorse’s ever-growing audience. Across the mammoth tour leading up to and following Cub’s release, Slater and his bandmates – guitarist Harry Fowler, drummer Jamie Staples and bassist Peter Woodin – also gradually and naturally became a fully-formed band, leaving the solo era of Wunderhorse behind.

Looking ahead, 2024 will see Wunderhorse taking to the stage at Reading + Leeds, as well as sharing headline duties at Dot to Dot festival alongside Mercury-nominated duo Jockstrap. They will also play The Great Escape, Boardmasters and TRNSMT as well as support Declan McKenna. The good news is that there is the promise of more live dates yet to be announced.
