NEWS: Pixies return with new single ‘You’re So Impatient’

American legends Pixies return with their first new music of 2024. The group have released a double A-side single, which features new track ‘You’re So Impatient’ and a Pixies twist on the 1950s classic ‘Que Sera, Sera’.

The single creates a macabre and cinematic picture of pop culture. ‘You’re So Impatient’ is an explosive two minute, nine second zombie attack the mall. ‘Que Sera, Sera’ is turned into a dark folk tale, told anew through the lens of a sci-fi monster epic. A limited edition 7″ single including both tracks will be released on 19 July.

Speaking about ‘You’re So Impatient’, vocalist, guitarist and songwriter Black Francis said: “‘You’re so Impatient’ is a slightly comedic suburban culture moment; there’s this guy, there’s this gal, there’s this tug-of-love dynamic going on. But the backdrop is the mall. And while the mall is crass, it’s also a very zombie, rock ‘n’ roll horror movie setting.”

2024 marks 35 years since Pixies groundbreaking album Doolittle and their new single arrives amidst a packed touring schedule which will see the band play approximately 70 dates around the world.

Pixies are about to kick off a North American tour with Modest Mouse and Cat Power which runs until 30 June. July and August see the band play a run of sold out headline shows in Europe, including Glasgow Academy and Halifax’s Piece Hall as well as a number of festival slots. The touring schedule concludes in November with stadium shows in Australia and New Zealand, where they will be joined by Pearl Jam.
