FREE MP3: missdavinalee: Bedbugs(Tom Moth remix)

Following on from their first single release and UK tour in 2010, radio play on John Kennedy’s Xfm show and over 250,000 hits on a viral Hewlett Packard advert, 2011 sees missdavinalee release their second single ‘Bedbugs’ (out April 25th) with a remix provided by Tom Moth, the harp player from Florence and the Machine.Download it below!

The fast-rising London quintet will also headline a Bank Holiday warm-up show at Camden’s The Monarch (Thursday 21st April) before heading to Brighton to play The Latest Music Bar (Thursday 12th May) as part of the Alternative Escape.

For the release of ‘Bedbugs’, Florence and the Machine’s harpist Tom Moth has created a stripped down, enchanting version of the track, weaving together his intricate harp playing with frontwoman Davina’s sublime vocals. Having previously played in bands together (including The Divine Browns, who were originally called The Dave Browns before being threatened by a punk band with the same name) after a chance meeting in a record store, Davina and Tom toured the acoustic circuit being labelled ‘anti-folk’ by promoters and never quite fitting in, before taking a break in 2007. Shortly after, Tom had the chance to join Florence’s band and Davina went on to form missdavinalee but they continued to throw ideas back and forth, albeit mostly from other sides of the world due to Tom’s new touring schedule.

Hailing from Harrow, singer and guitarist Davina Lee Cooke brought together chops-wearing bassist Roald Madland, electronics wizard Angus Wilson and back-to-front drummer Gareth Ashton completing the line-up last year with keyboardist and official band hair and make-up specialist Jenny Green. 2010 was spent carefully crafting tracks for their debut album (due for release later this year) as well as headlining their first UK national tour and being handpicked to headline the launch party for leading jewellers Tatty Divine’s new London store.
