Haçienda Records launches label: Joy Division reworks & Man Ray EP

In a move that may make some Joy Division and Factory label fans wince and others rejoice, Fac 51 The Haçienda has announced its new digital record label Haçienda Record with all tracks housed at www.fac51thehaciend
Originally formed as an outlet for the work of Peter Hook and his various projects, the site brings together all the Man Ray and Freebass releases from 2010 along with various lesser known remixes from the likes of Arthur Baker and Fritz Von Runte with all releases being allocated a “HAC” catalogue number as below.

To launch the site, Haçienda Records is making Man Ray’s “Tokyo Joe” EP available at the site from today, Tuesday 26th April. Tokyo Joe sees Peter Hook and production partner Phil Murphy (aka Phil Da Gap) unleash four tracks, the original radio edit and three remixes which straddle punk, house and indie styles in an upfront and bass driven dance tune.

A version was originally recorded for the opening of The Factory club in Manchester in February 2010 but this has been reworked and a vocal line added and a host of remixes by Phil De Gap and Si Brad completing the EP.

Haçienda Records is also to release the much anticipated debut EP from The Light on Monday 9th May, “1102 / 2011” which sees Hooky and the band finish up an unreleased Joy Division track “Pictures In My Mind” and the three Rowetta sung versions of “Atmosphere”, “New Dawn Fades” and “Insight”, all of which she has been performing with The Light across Unknown Pleasures dates for the past year to great reactions from attendees and Joy Division fans.

In what is being dubbed “A Mancunian Rock Royalty World Premiere”, Hooky and Rowetta will appear on this Friday’s BBC Radio 6 Radcliffe and Maconie show April 29th with the first ever plays of “Pictures In My Mind” and “Atmosphere” featured on the show.

On the following Monday 2nd May, the videos for “Pictures In My Mind” and “Atmosphere” will be made available online and for broadcast with the full EP release coming a week later on Monday 9th May at www.fac51thehacienda.com.

Following the release of The Light’s EP, Haçienda Records has a slate of monthly releases by new and established artists which will be released on the first Monday of each month.

Monday 6th June will see the release of humanizer’s “This Tiny Universe EP”, the debut four tracks from this highly rated, up and coming Salford band. With live appearances at Secret Garden Festival, The Factory (supporting Graham Massey’s The Sisters Of Transistors) and Alan McGee’s Death Disco at The Notting Hill Arts Club already under their belt, humanizer’s effervescent and energetic, highly original sound takes in shades of early Stone Roses, modern psychedelic indie techno bands and the most respected dance music producers such as Carl Craig.

Having already attracted support from XFM’s Clint Boon and Eddie Temple Morris, John Robb, Graham Massey, David Sue of City Life and with the full support of Peter Hook and Fac 51 The Haçienda, Haçienda Records is proud that its first non Hooky related release is set to be humanizer’s debut EP, a band it has every confidence in and much more besides.

Monday 4th July sees Haçienda Records unleash Richie G’s “Baum… / Titten EP”, a double header of German and Underground Resistance style instrumental techno for which remixes are currently being commissioned. A seventeen year old techno producer from Montreal, Canada whose musical ability belies his age, calling on the very best of Sasha’s, Red Planet’s and DJ Rolando’s work, Richie has already remixed for Bedrock and Traum Recordings.

His release on Haçienda Records will mark his first ever, self titled release, an opportunity we are delighted to extend to this exceptionally talented producer who has already attracted the attention of John Digweed, Herman Cattaneo, James Zabiela, Charlie May and numerous other internationally famous DJs.

Future releases for Haçienda Records will be announced over coming months.

Artists who wish to send material for consideration for Haçienda Records should email [email protected].
