When the Queen arrives in Cardiff to open the fourth Assembly, the majority of the AMs will pledge an Oath to the Crown. Join Plaid Cymru’s Bethan Jenkins and Leanne Wood as they boycott the ceremony to attend Cardiff Bay Republican Day on the 7th of June, and give allegiance to Wales.

The alternative gathering will also feature speeches from Britain’s number one political campaigner Peter Tatchell and The Guardian’s Graham Smith (Republic), plus readings from Welsh authors Patrick Jones and Rachel Tresize.

It is hoped that this will become an annual forum for people from across the political spectrum to come together under one common theme and express their thoughts in a positive meaningful way.

The event has already stirred up a flurry of interest. Media from USA, Norway, Ireland and Canada have been asking for further details and are keen to show the event in context with what will be happening at The Assembly..

Media organisations are welcome and there will be photo opportunities as well as one to one interview with participants.

Available for interview: Plaid Cymru AM’s Bethan Jenkins, Leanne Wood and Lindsay Whittle. Political campaigner Peter Tatchell. The Guardian’s Graham Smith. Poet Patrick Jones and writer Rachel Tresize.
