GIITTV on judging panel for The Big Gig Semi-Final

I’ve been asked to sit on a judging panel for The Big Gig Semi final alongside Emma from Islet and Neil from Los Campesinos! And others including Nation Radio and Cardiff Council. Hand selected adult and youth bands play a battle of the bands gig at Cathays community centre this Sunday from 5pm, the judges each give a score out of ten. The winning local band goes through to a final at the Globe and could get to open the Admiral Big Weekend on Sunday the 7th of August.

The youth bands are still being decided, the last heat’s tonight.
The adult bands are:

– The Cautionary Child
– Eric Unseen
– Ffred Jones
– Fjords
– Rusty Shackle

Cardiff Council Events team in partnership with Nation Radio and Under Construction Festival are to hold a unique competition to find one local act to open The Cardiff Admiral Big weekend on Sunday 7 August. The Finals of the competition take place on 12/13/14 July at the Globe Music Venue, Cardiff.

Prices for each night, £5 and £3.50 for concessions

The competition will be divided into two parts, a youth final on Tuesday 12th July organised in partnership with Young peoples festival organisers Under Construction and an over 18s final on Wednesday 13th July.

The Grand Final will take place on Thursday 14th July with the best acts from the two previous nights competing for the exciting opportunity.

Judges will be from Swn Festival, Nation Radio and Cardiff Council.

The Event will be produced by Cardiff Council Events Team in conjunction with the Globe. Young people from Under Construction will assist the events team in production and stage management of the event.
