Preaching From the Pews: Youngblood Hawke

Abandoning the dregs of Iglu and Hartly, duo Sam Martin and Simon Katz touched down in Los Angeles after years on the road. They had one mission, and one mission alone – to bring good pop music back to the independent charts. As the Stateside success of Youngblood Hawke‘s self-titled debut EP proves, they’ve succeeded. It currently sits at No #2 on Amazing Radio’s billboard, having been beaten to the top by (the equally superb) Kyla la Grange.

Crammed with nougats of pop gold, Youngblood Hawke channel the old school tomfoolery of OMC and OPM (thankfully failing to draw influence from their abbreviated names) and modern upstarts like Metronomy and The Warblers. Yes, they sound a little like they’re off Glee. But when the tunes are this good, who cares?

The band hope to tour the UK “in the near future“. In the meantime, check out their EP below!
