The Get Up Kids will be releasing a new single from album ‘There Are Rules’ on 10th October. ‘Rally Round The Fool’ will be backed by the previously unreleased B-side ‘Past Is Past’.

Singer / guitarist Matt Pryor says of the single – “Rally was in the first batch of songs that we wrote for the record.  It was actually dead a couple of times before we got it right.  Lyrically, it’s mostly about independence.  Freeing yourself from relying too much on others for better or for worse.”

And the B-side –

“Past Is Past is one of the first songs that we really started experimenting with.  Trying to find that balance between being creative but not going completely off the deep end.  The front half and the back half are almost two different songs united by a common melody”

The band will be taking the recent album on the road in Europe throughout September and October with dates across the continent which will include shows in Leeds and London. Pryor says of the forthcoming live shows – “Always excited to get back to the UK, good friends, good beer, good shows… what’s not to love.” The band are no strangers to UK shores, and most recently they played Reading and Leeds festivals last year, as well as assorted headline dates which saw some typically hearty singalongs. These forthcoming dates will be no exception.

The recent album ‘There Are Rules’ has marked a new chapter for The Get Up Kids, as they have returned to their independent roots, forming their own label – Quality Hill Records – and reigniting the DIY spirit that originally launched the band onto the worldwide stage.
