The Early Years announce new single & reunion gig

The Early Years

The Early Years play their first show for well over three years this Wednesday (November 2) at The CAMP Basement, 70-74 City Road, London EC1Y 2BJ. Their long-awaited return also features support from Echo Lake and Sennen, plus guest DJs Andrew Weatherall and Chris Rotter.

To coincide, The Early Years are released a limited-edition orange vinyl 7″ single featuring new tracks ‘Complicity’ and ‘Fallen Star’. The former continues with the band’s krautrock excursions, with synths and guitars looping around each other over a propulsive rhythm (and has already picked up a few radio plays courtesy of John Kennedy and Gideon Coe). The latter is slow-building spacerock, which eventually burns out in a haze of frazzled distortion. Now all we can hope is that the reunion is a permanent one, because this is quite a comeback.

The single is also released digitally next week (November 7) as the ‘Memory Case’ EP, adding ‘Like A Suicide’ and ‘The Computer Voice’, the two tracks from the band’s 2008 single on Sonic Cathedral.

The Early Years also take over our regular Broad Church radio show on Strangeways Radio this Tuesday night at 9pm GMT. Their playlist includes includes Boards Of Canada, Scott Walker, Trans Am, The War On Drugs, Steve Reich, Alice Coltrane, This Heat, Boredoms and many more.
