Voltaire Twins – new video, free single download

Voltaire Twins002 The Voltaire Twins‘ new video is delightfully silly despite our slight suspicion that maybe other people have done the ‘school = bad‘ thing before? We’ll forgive them seeing as paper gets shredded into hundreds of pieces and thrown like confetti. We’ll doubly forgive them seeing as, when we met them in the States a couple of weeks ago, they informed us that this internet thingy had only just reached the bit of Western Australia they call home, so how would they know any better? Mind you, I’m not sure they were being entirely truthful. As well as chatting with them on a street corner we caught a live show, which is what totally convinced us to watch their next move very intently. And that move is to release new single ‘Young Adult’ for free, from today, via their website www.voltairetwins.com  The video is already ratcheting up hits like mad back home in Oz, so we considered it our public duty to share it here too.

The music is joyous dance infused pop. The Korg in the basement has a nice air of squelch and grime. The slightly grubby beat hints at dubstep, while the chant is whooping and hollering.

Oh, and just out of interest, Tegan and Jaymes really are twins. Except, as they pointed out, non-identical.
