Summer Sundae announces final wave of acts

Summer Sundae

Summer Sundae Weekender are delighted to announce the final wave of artists on 2012’s line up, establishing the event once again as an essential date in the summer music calendar!

Mercury nominated Ed Harcourt is the final act to join the Drowned in Sound bill. Having released five studio albums to date, the singer-songwriter has rightfully gained the reputation for being the British answer to Jeff Buckley. Driven by their desire to create a sound that is indestructible and musically solid, all girl four piece Savages invoke the radical spirit of the great post punk bands to achieve this. You can catch them on Saturday 18th August at the Crocodile’s Lagoon indoors at De Montfort Hall. Unique electronic project Dark Dark Horse are also announced as winners of the local competition for an East Midlands band to open the Summer Sundae Main Stage this year. The Leicestershire three-piece were selected and announced live on air by BBC Radio DJ Dean Jackson during his show ‘The Beat’. Dean Jackson will also be presenting a BBC Introducing Stage at this year’s festival on Saturday 18th August at The Watering Hole, featuring the very best of East Midlands talent including rising star Jake Bugg and talented youngster Mahalia.

In addition to Dean Jackson from BBC’s The Beat, we are also excited to announce our other MCs for Summer Sundae Weekender 2012. They will include: BBC6 Music’s Chris Hawkins, BBC Radio Leicester’s Jonathan Lampon & Ed Stagg and Leicestershire singer-songwriters Kevin Hewick and Stevie Jones, with more to be added across the weekend.
