Swedish House Mafia @ Milton Keynes Bowl 14/07/12

Sebastian Ingrosso, Steve Angello and Axel “Axwell” Hedfors made it their
Motto for the night, and put on an impressive farewell extravaganza, after recently announcing their split after four years together.
The trio of Swedish superstar DJs turned the Bowl into the summer’s biggest dancefloor, with top artists like Alesso, Pete Tong, Calvin Harris and many more as support, hitting out altogether 9 hours of banging hits.

With the English weather doing what it does best, The Bowl turned into a mud bath, but despite the rain, the only thing dampened was the grass and not the mood of the crowd, as Swedish House Mafia started their set with a giant version of ‘Greyhound’, accompanied by some awesome pyrotechnics and one of the greatest light shows ever.

The electronic music trio dropped in remixes of acts like Florence + The Machine, Coldplay and Red Hot Chili Peppers, all to huge receptions and the two hour set seemed to fly by without ever dipping in pace. The climax of the show was when an overwhelmed Ingrosso leaped onto the DJ console, waving a huge Union Jack flag, thanking every person who had come for giving them the best support “from a country that felt like home.” He explained that “only true friends come out in the mud and rain and rave at a goodbye party”, before he jumped back behind the decks for their last tune of the night, ‘Save The World’, giving their UK following the send-off they deserved.
