Track Of The Day #86: The Levellers – Our Forgotten Towns

Those timeless Brighton pikeys, Levellers are back, not that they’ve really been away. Ten years ago they were cutting a different trail to the rest of the scene and captured a wide audience, convinced they were the new Irish rovers. Brighton isn’t the most logical place to be taunting those wares, yet success came along. The ‘Best Of’ in 1998 marked the end of an era perhaps, but the band played on and album number ten, ‘Static On The Airwaves’ has just been released. All the ingredients are included and the band still furrow that unique path, making for another compelling listen. So listen.
