Track Of The Day #175: Hemmingbirds – My Love, Our Time Is Now

Chicago’s Hemmingbirds have just released their sophomore album The Vines of Age. Displaying a harder more bombastic widescreen edge than their previous more folky offerings of their debut ‘Death Wave’. Hemmingbirds are a four piece outfit built around the talent of singer/guitarist/violist Yoo Soo Kim, and their name is loosely inspired by Ernest Hemingway and a Fleet Foxes track about hummingbirds and meadowlark. The opening cut from their album ‘My LOve, Our Time Is Now’ is a stirring bold, widescreen guitar pop track that echoes the timeless melodies of the Shins and the sprawling epic chorus’ of early Guillemots. Thus it is today’s mighty fine life affirming track of the day!
