My head is hurting the builders next door are giving me a right old ache in the noggun with their clattering around, what I really need is an afternoon soother. Thank the lord then for London’s Dan Michaelson & his Coastguards, returning just in time with the follow up to his 2011 album ‘Sudden Fiction’ his sparse reverb heavy lament to love. His new cut ‘Sheets'(lifted from his forthcoming album ‘Blindspot’) eases its way worm like into your ears and won’t retreat, shuffling gracefully through the scene Dan’s affecting croak and elegant walzing orchestration framing it all in the dewy eyed freezing cold backdrop of this seemingly endless winter. Saviour the sounds below!
Recorded between stints of touring with I Am Kloot and Phosphorescent, and scoring his first feature film, ‘Blindspot’ is a subtle reflection on what is left in the peripheries; the title ‘Blindspot’ referring to the unknown and what we didn’t account for, even though it is only just out of sight and understanding.
