Despite the fact I only caught the end of their set at Sounds From the Other City in May 2014, Manchester’s Girl Friend‘s elegant synth and delicate grandeur left a haunting impression. With their debut EP ‘Everyone Wants To Be Wanted’ ‘released on You Records in August they sound strikingly accomplished and complete. Their fragile intensity and brooding vocals are reminiscent of Wild Beasts filtered through 80s electro pop and infused with emotional depth of The Smiths.
