Track Of The Day #708: Sunflower Bean – The Stalker

Lead shot - Mia Della Ragione

Sunflower Bean? Sounds a bit hippy dippy right? Well don’t let the name mislead you, because Brooklyn-based psych-rock trio Sunflower Bean pack a serious punch. ‘The Stalker’ is a twitching lo-fi monster with brooding Black Sabbath-esque riffs being fed through Albini‘s mixing desk and punctuated by Pixies like male/female vocal foreplay that gives way to a mess of crescendos and yelps. Rock on Wayne!

Sunshine Bean are gearing up for their first-ever label release, a 7” coming out on Fat Possum on July 24th, ‘The Stalker’ is the  b-side, to the a-sided track ‘I Hear Voices.’
Following the release of their singular debut EP Show Me Your Seven Secrets earlier this year, Sunflower Bean, the band has spent the last year bringing their raw, high-energy performances to venues across the U.S., opening for the likes of Best Coast, DIIV, Cherry Glazerr, Wolf Alice and more.
