Clark Kent Ambush #14: The Homosexuals Special (part 1)

OK, this week’s show is a beast! First, Ned Dylan kicks off the playlist with new single ‘Disco’ (Available Friday 18th September), the Lucie Barat endorsed White Room continue the punk rock vibe with ‘You’ll See’ followed by Fur Cough‘s new single ‘A Palaver’ adding some welcome psychedelia to the show. Think The Wytches crossed with The Pixies. Yup, that good.

Clark Kent’s Band News video, highlights numerous gigs which ought to cause Londoners to scrabble for their diaries. Sets from Mystified, The Voodoo Bin Men, Hotgothic, Kings of Comedy, Terminal Gods, Pink Diamond Revue, Dedwardians, Dumbjaw, Black Sixteen and Cardboard Hit all feature. Who is the mystery band playing Clark Kent Presents The Rooz Sessions (September 24th October)? Only one way to find out.

Dexter Bentley of Resonance 104.4FM has kindly invited Clark Kent to video sessions there EVERY Saturday. His show is called ‘Hello Goodbye’ and his eclectic music choice is reminiscent of John Peel. Nice. The artists in session were The Pheromoans (think Damon Albarn at his most lo-fi) and The Homosexuals, the seminal punk band fronted by the one and only Bruno Wizard. As indicated by the blog title viewers can expect to see more of Bruno and his band next week. Big shout out to Stacy Picard and Lisa Guets for mixing and splicing duties at ludicrously short notice.

If you live in South London and haven’t already made plans for Friday 18th September – have no fear! Wendy and Margaret have an infectious enthusiasm for Global Fusion’s event for International Peace Day. Check out their ambush for details regarding music and workshops for creative writing, yoga and much, much more.

With music from The Pink Diamond Revue, Goldray (interview coming soon … thank you Michael Counsel for bringing them to the channel’s attention), Lois and the Love (gotta love that band), Jane Weaver (would be nice to ambush her regarding her approach to the limbo between dance and rock), Beak, Lost Film Foundation (interview in the toilets Hotgothic style), The Venus Lyx (their interview was ambushed by another band … damn it Aiden Pryor!), Fat White Family, St Pierre Snake Invasion (new single vid which is a laugh and a half), Voodoo Bin Men and finishing with a classic track culled from ‘The Old Grey Whistle Test’. From which artist? Press play and find out.
