NEWS: The Undertones release new Kevin Shields remix

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the birth of The Undertones, the Northern Irish group often credited with giving a kick-start to punk and known for being one of John Peel’s favourite bands.  To celebrate, Union Square Music are releasing a vinyl remastered version and digital version of their first two albums: The Undertones and Hypnotised.  Both LPs are released on 7th October, completely remastered from the original tapes with replicas of the artwork.

Also being released is a 7” remix of their classic 1979 single ‘Get Over You’ by Primal Scream and My Bloody Valentine man Kevin Shields.  The remix has been created by using the original multi-track tape utilised by the band.  It’s not a “remix” like you’d normally think (there’s definitely no synths or beats here) but instead it gives the different elements of the track a bit more clarity and polishes it up.  It’s not as grubby as the original, but it keeps the same spirit.  Listen below.

The band are also heading off on an extensive tour of the UK in October and November. To find out more, visit their website.
