NEWS: Moon Duo announce new LP ‘Occult Architecture Vol. 1,’ share ‘Cold Fear’

Ripley Johnson and Sanae Yamada – better known as semi-experimental psych-pop outfit Moon Duo – have announced that they’ll be releasing their fourth record Occult Architecture Vol. 1 on 3rd February 2017 via Sacred Bones.  Written and recorded in their hometown of Portland, Oregon, it’s the first in a two-part epic that examines the structures found in the cycle of seasons and the journey from day into night.  As such, Vol. 1 will embrace darker qualities, thus its release in Winter.

To coincide with the announcement, the pair have shared first single ‘Cold Fear.’  It’s a reverberating number built on feedback, and sci-fi synths that certainly has a foreboding nature.  Johnson says of the track: “Cold Fear is about primal fear, like drowning, or falling endlessly in a nightmare […] I t’s a creeping, striking feeling that is also a real rush.  It makes you feel alive.”  Listen below.

The pair have also announced a short run of three UK dates to coincide with the album’s release.  Details below.

6th April – The Haunt, Brighton
7th April – Brudenell Social Club, Leeds
8th April – Stereo, Glasgow
