London-based multi-instrumentalist Sands releases his double A Side single ‘Let’s Run / Echoes’ – the latter a cover of cult singer/songwriter Gene Clark, this Friday the 27th October. Today, we have the first airing of the video for ‘Let’s Run’ with its shape shifting visuals, watch it here:
‘Let’s Run’ with its upbeat honky-tonk pianos, jaunty vocals and grand psych pop production on the face of it sounds like it could be an off cut from an ELO or early Arcade Fire album. But this upbeat tune is juxtaposed by biting lyrics that seek to escape the increasing ridiculousness of life.
‘Let’s Run’ came right away one afternoon, strumming the first two chords. In my head it was instantly a song playing in some sort of Noir movie, set in the West Coast. With the lyrics I tried to paint a picture of the colour and tone I was envisioning” he says.
Following his debut ‘Sands EP’, ‘Let’s Run’ and ‘Echoes’ were mixed in Berlin at Kaiku Studio by Jonas Verwijnen (Moon Duo, Follakzoid) with additional mixing by Janne Lounatvuori.
