John Grant has unveiled the video for the title track of his forthcoming album. ‘Love Is Magic’ is also his latest single and is out now; the album of the same name will be released on October 12 via Bella Union/Partisan Records.
The video for ‘Love Is Magic‘ was directed by Fanny Hoetzeneder, and the dog-starring clip is a snapshot of unconditional love, soundtracked by Grant’s epic electro-march.
Love Is Magic is Grant’s fourth studio album, following on from 2015’s Grey Tickles, Black Pressure. It was produced by Grant alongside analogue synth expert/collector Benge and Paul Alexander of Midlake. The album is said to fully embrace electronic music in its many forms in a way Grant has only flirted with previously. The album “is closer still to how I’ve always wanted my records to sound, but I didn’t know how to go about it,” Grant says.
The forthcoming tour in Europe and North America takes place between now and Christmas, and includes a date as part of the Edinburgh International Festival. The dates are as follows:
