I love Chris’ vocal phrasing. Using the voice like a percussive instrument in rock never fails to grab my attention, and in ‘Johnny‘ The Sly Persuaders grab said attention and don’t let go. Chris Blake (Lead singer/guitarist) says: ‘Johnny’ is about a fairly recognisable sort of person. Someone who gives it big about having your back and always being there, but when things get difficult won’t be seen for dust. Someone who’s a bit of a sociopath really, I guess. Musically, it’s great fun to play – probably one of our favourites out of our new material. The shouted vocal over the coda is a bit of a throat-shredder though, so it doesn’t always make it into our live sets! It’s on our new album, which will be out Spring 2019.’
