SESSION: The Billy Shinbone Show - 'Hoard Of Hope & Plunder' (Margo's Living Room)

SESSION: The Billy Shinbone Show – ‘Hoard Of Hope & Plunder’ (Margo’s Living Room)

‘Hoard of Hope & Plunder’ is the second exclusive session track from The Billy Shinbone Show at Margo’s Living Room, watch it below. Billy says: “Hoard Of Hope & Plunder is not about Van Morrison- the Uncle Van character in the song is not him, although I admire his work. It’s about hoarding & decay. -the decay of objects, feelings, memories & people, the whole crumbling mess of faded love & tubs of rusty hinges, latches & catches.

I grew up in a sea of dilapidation, surrounded by corrugated iron & rusty tools with worm-eaten handles. I’ve replaced those in my adult life with crackling guitar amplifiers, broken mandolins & vintage shirts that are worn & threadbare. I’m comfortable with malfunction & decay.

Half of our lives is spent in such states. The fun is to learn to find new kinds of comfort within it. I’ve aiming for some kind of Cajun rhythm in the breaks, trying to get the feel of the fiddles & accordions on a lonely little guitar. I’m lucky to have Mickey Van Dango pounding on a couple of drums to keep me company.”

For the uninitiated, Margo’s Living Room is a unique YouTube series of live sessions by quirky underground bands, big and small (Goat Girl, Swedish Death Candy, Calva Louise, etc).

Filmed in Hermitage Works Studios (Fat White Family, Catholic Action, Meatraffle), Billy Shinbone’s ‘Old Brown Shoe’ is the second video to appear online, and for the next 24 hours God is in the TV get to premiere this wild-eyed folk for you.
