Dark electronic duo Boy Harsher have been going from strength to strength with each release. Hailing from Massachusetts, Jae Matthews and Augustus Muller dabbled in the experimental use of film, eventually incorparating it into their industrialised synth-based soundscapes. Debut album Yr Body Is Nothing (2016) was a bleak, pulsating, minimalist record that explored the harsh underbelly of EBM (Electronic body music) via the likes of TR/ST and The Soft Moon. Follow up Lesser Man was even darker yet – like the soundtrack to an 80s cult slasher flick, where the killer stalks victims through dimly-lit city streets.
Latest single ‘LA‘ is taken from the band’s upcoming album Careful, which is due out on February 1st via Nude Club Records. The accompanying video sees Cam-girl lovers Hunter and Angel become destroyers of their own their own sensual, live-streamed imagery. It’s a slick video, that seems to inhabit some sort of anarchic near-future where people have some sort of visual upgrade.
The band explain the track further, “‘LA’ defines the album, by both mourning lost/lustful opportunities and craving that fleeting escape”.
