NEWS: Gruff Rhys announces Llangollen show

NEWS: Gruff Rhys, Flamingods, Catrin Finch and Seckou Keita amongst first names for FOCUS Wales 2020

FOCUS Wales have announced the first acts for their 2020 festival. The festival will see over 250+ acts from Wales and around the world descend upon Wrexham across 7th – 9th May.

The first names include Super Furry Animal’s front man and award winning Welsh music icon Gruff Rhys, who will be playing FOCUS Wales for the first time. Indie buzz band Flamingods also join the festival line-up following the release of their critically acclaimed 2019 album Levitation. The multi award-winning musicians Catrin Finch and Seckou Keita will be showcasing their collaborative project at FOCUS Wales, alongside fellow BBC Radio 2 Folk Award winners The Breath and The Trials of Cato. Also on the bill are 6Music favourites JOHN, who have been causing a stir following their recent tour support with Idles.

2020 will mark the 10th edition of FOCUS Wales international showcase festival in Wrexham, which has just been shortlisted for a UK Festival Award – the winners will be announced at The Troxy, London in December.

FOCUS Wales has become Wales’ biggest music industry event, with three days of panels, keynote talks, and industry advice, the festival will see over 400 music industry professionals descend upon Wrexham from around the world. First speakers announced include: David Silbaugh (Summerfest, USA), Henca Maduro (New Skool Rules, Netherlands), Kaptin Barrett (Boomtown Festival), Emma Zillmann (Blue Dot Festival / Kendal Calling), Lisa Schwartz (Philadelphia Folk Festival, USA), and Stephen Budd (Africa Express / OneFest).
