Today we highlight Red Telephone‘s new video for their new single ‘Day Off’, an abrasive discordant track that veers maniacally between squealed, paranoid internal monologues and bittersweet moments of calm. Frontman Declan Andrews’ dark, abstract stories are burnt onto your subconsciousness, in a dark ominous slightly unhinged manner. With nods to the abrasive artful noise of Ariel Pink and the dark recesses of early Suede, it demonstrate the band’s ability for tonal shift, flitting seamlessly between polar moods by the medium of apparently endless melodic hooks. The doube A side Day Off / Kookly Rose is being released by The Popty-Ping Recording Company on 7”vinyl in late 2019 via as part of our Ping suite of releases.
The Cardiff act blend Welsh psych, scuzzy garage and dreamy synth it has garnered airplay from BBC Radio 6 Music, BBC Introducing, BBC Radio Wales and Amazing Radio off the back of some buzzing recent singles. Alongside that, their live show has seen them play both Wales (FOCUS Wales) and Estonia (Tallinn Music Week) all in the space of three months earlier in 2019.
Red Telephone’s latest offering is a double A-side incorporating two tracks ‘Day Off’ and ‘Kookly Rose’.
