Us Frail Gods have released a new charity single ‘Anthem For Ukraine’ out now through Bandcamp for £1 with all profits going to UNICEF’s Crisis Appeal for Ukraine.
Us Frail Gods are Richey Hackett and Stu Johnson, a long distance writing and recording partnership making new wave/industrial/synth pop music using the Tibetan Method since October 2020. Released to mark one month since the Russian Invasion of the country, ‘Anthem for Ukraine’ spirals to the heavens on the back of rolling drums, and chiming guitar riffs, soaring into anthemic waves of melody, ‘Anthem for Ukraine’ stands in awe at the resilience of the Ukrainian leaders and their people in the face of such unspeakable brutality, the song holds hope in its heart for the besieged people of Ukraine who are currently under invasion by Russia. It’s released in aid of the Unicef’s Crisis appeal for Ukraine as a small token in the face of the unfolding tragedy in front of our eyes. The band explain:
“We had planned to release the second single from our upcoming second album in March, but watching the horror unfolding in Ukraine, we couldn’t just sit idly by and continue with business as usual. Children, parents, the elderly, are dying, being maimed and being displaced in staggering numbers. At the same time, with the rest of Europe we have admired the unshakeable resolve of the Ukrainian people and their leaders in the face of such brutality. Their ongoing stand against tyranny and oppression will never be forgotten.
Ukraine is not some historic event – it’s happening today. The people of Ukraine need more than words: they need our help and they need it now. So to mark one month since this awful conflict began, we are proud to present this celebration of the strength and resilience of the Ukrainian people. Both of us are fathers so, of the many worthy causes out there, we’ve decided to donate all proceeds from this single to supporting Ukrainian children via the UNICEF Crisis Appeal for Ukraine.”
The British duo released their debut single ‘Seed‘ in January 2021, following up with ‘Oblivion‘ in February and debut album ‘Leave It In A Dark Place‘ later in 2021. They release their second album Shorelines later in 2022, having begun the year with single ‘At Sea’s End‘ in January.
