VIDEO OF THE WEEK #234: Sprints – I’m In A Band

Sprints don’t do quiet. Let’s get that straight from the very start. And let’s celebrate the fact. The Dublin 4-piece have this week released a video for ‘I’m In A Band’. The track is from their second EP A Modern Job which was released on Nice Swan Records in March this year. The video is produced with footage from their year so far including snippets from performances at SXSW and The Great Escape, and it perfectly encapsulates just what this band is all about.

One of the joys of music is losing yourself in it, as Eminem once said. Raucous onstage energy is ramped up by lead singer Karla Chubb. ‘I’m In A Band” sees her share lead vocals with bassist Sam McCann, and this track is simply one of their best. It’s a riot with scuzzy guitars which continue throughout.  Karla sings as if bored by the questioning:
Everybody asks, everybody asks, are you in a band? Yeah I’m in a band
Everybody asks, everybody asks, are you any good? Yeah I think we’re good”

Opening for Liam Gallagher in Belfast and playing at Glastonbury as well as the aforementioned festival appearances have made 2022 a good year so far for Sprints. On 13 October they have their largest headline show to date at The Dome, Tuffnel Park in London supported by Eades and Nixer. They are also playing a number of Irish dates and festivals in Europe. Please see below for full details.

In the meantime, simply play this video, and dance like no-ones watching…
