Tkay Maidza has released a holiday song, entitled ‘Nights In December.’
The track, which is out now on legendary indie label 4AD has a 00’s R&B meets tinsel-pop refrain and is filled with woozy synths.
She has described the track as being like a love letter to New York City: ‘I thought it would be cool to make a song that captures the feeling of a new relationship but using wintertime in New York as the inspiration. I had a trip where I spent a winter in New York, and it was really beautiful so I almost wanted to recreate that feeling in a song.’
Having recently supported Billie Eilish on tour in the US, and Tkay Maidza is currently supporting Dua Lipa on tour in Australia. ‘Nights In December‘ follows a vibrant recent JPEGMAFIA remix of ‘High Beans’ and a feature on Babyface’s new album Girls Night Out. Earlier this year she was nominated for Best Solo Act In The World.
