NEWS: Folly Group announce debut album, share new single ‘Big Ground’ and confirm headline UK and EU tour for spring 2024

Folly Group have announced details of their debut album Down There! which is set for release on the 12th January 2024 via So Young Records. The news is accompanied by the release of single and album opener ‘Big Ground”.  Folly Group have been touring in support of Brooklyn’s Geese and have also announced their own UK and EU headline tour for spring 2024.

The first sound you hear on Down There! is a gang vocal from all four members, yelling the title of album-opener and lead single ‘Big Ground‘. The track also introduces the duality between rock and electronic elements in the album. Alternating between cold electronic verses and guitar-driven choruses, the outro moves through a dub section into a psych-rock freakout, backed by a rising drone. Amidst the bridge’s percussion, Kai Akinde-Hummel can be heard “playing” a metal chair from the studio. Expanding on the themes behind the track, guitarist / vocalist Louis Milburn, says:
“The basic concept of this song is life filling you with so much anxiety and dread that you would rather you didn’t exist at all – you’d rather be swallowed by the ground. In a way it’s sort of celebrating this fact, because once you know this deep down inside you can start to let go of these anxieties because after a while you face so many that they start to matter less.”
