NEWS: Dublin’s BIG LOVE share new single ‘Is It Over Yet’

Rapidly-rising Dublin six-piece BIG LOVE have shared their hotly anticipated new single ‘Is It Over Yet.’ Futuristic synths paint the airwaves with celestial sonic explosions like stars spattering the darkness; introspective with rich soul-deep vocals, lush, stylish harmonies, dynamic drums and subtly discordant guitar work. The track builds from brooding moments of contemplation before soaring to euphoric highs, glistening with ethereal riffs. The track is as pensive as it is anthemic, examining the daily turmoil we each face within our inner psyches when in solitude.

Speaking of the track, lead singer Cian Ó’Maonlaí says: “This song for me is an attempt at tracking and describing a wandering mind. From helpless, hopeless dread to boundless joy we can dance between the two at any given moment. The song places a protagonist sitting deep in the dark of a pub alone. He waits for friends and happiness to arrive. He waits with an excited stomach, a feeling disguised as sick and anxious, for happiness and life to return.”

The band have been gathering momentum having been tipped by the likes of Hot Press in their Hot for 2024, Whelan’s Ones To Watch, and RTÉ Recommends, for their widescreen indie-pop inflected alt-rock live sound. Having sold-out numerous early headlines shows around Dublin at venues like The Workman’s Club and The Grand Social, as well as playing major festivals such as Electric Picnic and Other Voices, their lustral new single delivers on all that early promise that has helped them attract such considerable buzz so far.

Recorded in London with the help of producer Matt Glasbey (Alt-J, Sorry, Bloc Party), the track perfectly exemplifies why the band have had such an incendiary rise.

With more live dates and new music penned for 2024, the new single stands a statement of intent for the BIG LOVE. For fans, ‘Is It Over Yet‘ will mark yet another leap forwards for the band, further proving their thirst for more – both sonically and as artists. For those that have yet to hear them, there’s no better to time to get on board.

BIG LOVE will play on 19th June at the Gig for Gaza in The Grand Social, Dublin – Tickets here.
The band are made up of Cian Ó’Maonlaí (lead vocals), Jack Cody (guitar/vocals), Megan Nic Ruairí (vocals, keys/synth), Dan Aherne (bass), Anton Shovlin (drums), and Adam Curtis (lead guitar)
