A Grave with No Name has been the musical project of London-based musician Alexander Shields for some 10 years now. Later this week, Shields will release ‘Wooden Mask’, his fifth album as A Grave With No Name.
Shields has just shared the third and final track ‘Pirouette’ (following the earlier ‘House’ and ‘Wedding Dress’) from the forthcoming record and it continues in a similar vein of sparse, haunting, atmospheric sound. Here Shields’ voice conveys an acute sense of loss and longing as it weaves its melancholic way through a desolate landscape of solitary guitar and sombre strings. Shields himself describes ‘Pirouette’ as “a ballad for the invisible sways and whirls we perform; the theatre we divine.”
Wooden Mask is released on 12th August through Forged Artifacts.
