North London duo Tender – James Cullen and Dan Cobb – have been making dark and seductive electronica alone in their basement for quite a while. They’ve built up a wealth of sensual, R&B-tinged tracks in their time and now their efforts have paid off with a new contract with Partisan Records (who also count Eagulls, Dilly Dally and Torres among their number).
To celebrate, the band have just revealed their latest track ‘Outside,’ a typically dark and minimalist take on R&B. It’s their first new music since the beginning of the year but shows that they’re continuing to develop as a duo. Containing a slightly psychedelic, rubbery synth alongside stark piano melodies and breathy vocals, ‘Outside’ moves with a dark groove but, knowing that silence is just as effective as sound, it has plenty of room to breathe.
