Moscow Youth Cult – Hive Glow EP by Moscow Youth Cult MYC press shot

East Midlands electronic duo Moscow Youth Cult, who specialise in merging glitchy lo-fi charm with pop hooks and a 70s horror B-movie aesthetic, have signed to the LoAF label (part of Lo Recordings who have acts like Grimes, Gable and Black Devil Disco Club on their roster). Their new ‘Hive Glow’ EP is available for free downloadon the soundcloud link below. MYC also have slated some live dates see below too!

Emerging from the backwaters of the industrial parks, art schools and knitting factories of the East Midlands, Moscow Youth Cult draw their inspiration from the riches of electronica and the grainy, insalubrious aesthetic of obscure Sci-Fi and Horror videos of the last 30 years.

Drawing comparisons with the likes of Telefon Tel Aviv, Fuck Buttons and Boards of Canada, Moscow Youth Cult’s live shows use re-edited clips from choice B-movies, beamed from a magic retro television, to evoke both fear and euphoria amid sweaty, analogue workouts and pounding, digital ecstasy.

In LoAF Recordings Moscow Youth Cult have now found a home for their aesthetic with an iconic legacy for electronic music amongst fellow maverick noise dabblers The Chap, Grimes and GaBLé.

To celebrate this joyous occasion the band are giving away the three track ‘Hive Glow’ EP.

Moscow Youth Cult appear on LoAF’s Domestic Pop Deux (which sees a release on the 30th May), have remixed fellow Lo artists Nazca Lines as well as Black Devil Disco Club’s ‘Distrust’, which features Faris Badwan of the Horrors. An album release will follow in autumn.
