VIDEO: Billy Bragg – Never Buy The Sun

billybraggchapter2

With the continuing scandal relating to the News of the World, and the tangled web involving messers Andy Coulson, Rebekah Brooks and Rupert Murdoch this week. That was sparked by further revelations of the disgusting practise of phone hacking, and led to the subsequent closure of the paper. It’s important to keep the pressure up on News Corporation, as Murdoch seeks to gain control over BSKYB, trying to retain their (out of control) power and monopoly over the media and government in this country.

Responding to the whole affair Billy Bragg has written a new song entitled ‘Never Buy the Sun'(watch the video below) it’s references to gutter tabloid journalism, the Sun’s despicable coverage of the Hillsborough disaster that means ‘scousers never buy the sun’ to this day. Tackling the corruption that goes to the heart of the government(former NoW editor Andy Coulson was employed by our Prime Minister David Cameron as his communication’s chief) its a rallying call to continue a boycott News Corp media and keep the pressure upon politicians who are making decisions regarding the future of BSKYB! Here’s what Billy said about the song in a facebook message to fans last night:

Really wanted to update the lyrics to It Says Here this week but the ever changing developments kept confounding me. Instead I wrote this new song yesterday – most of it in traffic in the M5 and then in my hotel room in Garforth after watching Newsnight. Debuted it at the gig tonight after Steve Grubb filmed this version in the dressing room and it went down a storm

NEVER BUY THE SUN’ filmed at Garforth Academy
